Inspiration of Devoted. Afraid. Desperate road-trip 1st stop

Now that the book is published I can begin to tell you a little bit about how it came together, why don’t we start off with the inspiration of the entire book itself? Which actually comes from my brother throwing a picture in my face! Yes, that is actually how it happened I was sitting at my computer trying to figure out what the story should be about and he threw a picture at me.

That was a picture of the character Nightmare Freddy, from the horror game series Five nights at Freddy’s. Specifically Nightmare Freddy, who is an antagonist in the fourth game where the player is a child fighting off his nightmare’s, if you can’t keep them at bay with doors/flashlight then you get jump scared/loose and have to start over. Nightmare Freddy hide’s under the bed, the way you keep him at bay is by pointing the flash the light at little version’s of Freddy called the Freddles, who would appear one by one on the bed and if all three appear. Bye-bye kiddo because here comes papa Freddy!

Now you might be wondering, how I got “single-father of triplet’s goes to fantasy world” out of “nightmare psycho robot bear who kills children.”

And my answer is –

uh.

Well actually it’s that I have been in this fandom for about seven years now and the character’s hold a special place in my heart, so I don’t really see nightmare as the child-killer he is in the game but rather as tired-single-dad-with-crazy-kids. Now are you seeing where that inspo came from?

The picture that I saw of him was actaully his first teaser before the 4th game came out. I can’t show it here for copyright reason’s but if you want to see it you can easily search “Nightmare Freddy teaser image” and it should come up!

But for those of you who just want to know what he looks like I have a picture of him that I have drawn myself just this last year. I drew the picture myself but I do not own the copyright to the character.

This picture depicts the FNAF 4 room, where Nightmare Freddy is just trying to relax after getting his crazy children to sleep.

And this my friends, is where the whole tired single-dad, with three kids came into the picture! While Abraham in the finale story is nothing like this bear from FNAF, it’s fun to look back and see where the inspiration came from and also to see how it grew from just a random piece of paper my brother threw at me into this 500 page book!

And yes, I most definitely plan on drawing a picture of Abraham and Nightmare Freddy together with their children playing together. Because I just have a thing for turning horror wholesome.

Anyway, that was the first post of many of how this book came to be. I hope you enjoyed this little behind the scenes peek, and be on the look out for more, I plan to explain Easter eggs, reason’s for worldbuilding choices and designs and so much more!

So you better read that book because all of this will make a lot more sense once you do! Or if you haven’t yet I hope that this bring a smile to your face or even encourages you to check out this great story where it’s available on amazon!

Until next time, stay warm and eat some pie!
