Book Two Update: 8/17/22

I had the whole first third of the story figured out.

Written and planned inside the outline, how everyone would react and why they would react. I knew what everything would look like and what the characters were going to feel.

But when I began writing something felt.. Off

There was no emotion. I ended up writing about 2000 words before stopping and seeing that it wasn’t just writers block it was the story itself that as the problem. The current planned circumstances didn’t allow for relate-ability which choked out all the emotion from the story.

But then I had this sudden little spark of an idea.

I decided to let it run free, it wasn’t part of any of my current plans. But it was filled with mystery it wasn’t all planned and figured out it was freeing to figure out what was going on alongside the characters. To try and figure out how each character would come in and how everyone would react. it freed up the story and brought emotion back into it.

I think I’m slowly figuring out my own process of planning stories and today I learned that maybe I need a vary lose outline otherwise the mystery is taken out of it, when I already know every single little thing that happens it just makes it.. not fun for me.

And while I feel other people would enjoy reading it. I wasn’t enjoying writing it and I want my own joy to be a priority as well.

Well, thats it for today. Just a little note.

You’ll find the way you plan stories over time, if your stuck trying to figure out what way you plan your stories best I would suggest trying out many different ways of planning. With all different kinds of stories and seeing how you feel about them. One day you’ll find what works best for you.

I still haven’t found what works best for me, I’m still exploring.

Maybe I’ll talk about some of my different ways of planning but for now I’ll leave you with just this.

Stay warm and eat some pie.
